Website usage tendencies, statistics part two
In the previous post , we wrote some interesting facts about websites with and without responsive alternatives, i.e. websites that have mobile device friendly version
We’ve been looking for some more interesting data to supplement, which we think will be useful not only to surprise, but maybe will be useful for a few ppl searching in this subject, and we’re still planning to update the statistics in the future to show the growing trend.
So here are some less, and some, perhaps a little more surprising statistics, many from Google itself:
- Here in HUngary, ~ 40% of businesses do not have a website at all.
- Nearly a quarter of businesses with a website do not have a mobile-friendly / responsive version.
- More than two-thirds of global Internet traffic comes from mobile devices.
- More than half of online purchases are made from mobile devices. - and the rate is growing day by day.
- Nearly 60% of internet users search for a seller using their mobile device before making a purchase.
- If your website does not display properly on their device, they will conclude that it is unreliable.
- 80% of customers leave a website that doesn`t display perfectly on their mobile device.
- According to Google, 60% of users never visit the website again they are having difficulty while browsing; and 40% visit competitors’ websites.
- According to a Google survey, 83% of users think it`s important to be able to browse a website seamlessly from any device.
- Mobile devices have 64% higher conversion rates (ie visits that end in a purchase / order / business action) than desktops.
We think that these numbers / statistics (which show an increasing trend from week to week - as far as the gaining ground of mobile devices is concerned) are not to be underestimated, and if you don`t have a website or are outdated, you can visit a company that is happy to help you make one or update to meet current internet trends.
Search Engines
But what is a Search Engine and what is search engine optimization?
Search Engines is a summary name for pages that allow potential customers or interested parties to find your website using relevant, related keywords. Search Engine Optimization (SEO for short) is the preparation and optimization of the content and structure of the websites for these search engines, ie to help the website to meet the conditions of these search engines as well as possible to rank for the given keywords on the top of the list. :)
Just the Google alone, as a search engine, has undergone tremendous changes in its algorithm over the past 10 years. The old search engine optimization "tricks" are worth nothing nowadays, and content and quality are more important than quantity or various tricks. It takes into account how often the content of a page is updated, how relevant it is to those keywords, how much the image and text ratio of the website is, negatively "scores" unnecessary repetitions, and we could list more.
If you want to put your website in a better position to display on good position for relevant keywords in these search engines, it can come at a serious cost. In the search engine optimization market, you can find practically everything from word counting pricing, monthly subscriptions (EUR 300 / month - an existing example), to and lump-sum, costs hundreds of thousands of forints search engine optimization , and keep in mind that this is just technical SEO.
It is also important to know that an existing website with a poor SEO score is much harder to retrieve and takes more time than a newly created website, so it will cost much more for the same result than with a new website.
